We do it all the time. Here’s how:
Without a doubt, Blockbuster is by far the BEST
way to rent movies!
Sign up online for their service. Take the “3 out at a time”
plan for $17.99 a month. You will have to supply a credit
card to sign-up, but don’t worry, they won’t charge it as
long as you cancel the day BEFORE your trial period ends.
They will initially give you either a 2 or 4 week “trial.”
Select 30+ movies in your “queue” to be sure they are
constantly sending you movies as soon as you return one.
Their “new” feature (“Total Access”) is that instead of YOU
mailing the movies back, you can return them to the store.
By doing this - the store will ALSO give you a movie.
A one for one exchange (return all 3 - get 3 more).
What we do, is as soon as the first movie arrives in the mail,
watch it. The next day, return it to the store & pick up your
new movie. Set THIS movie aside for now. Watch the
second movie you received from the mail. The following
day, go back to the store & exchange it. Set this movie
aside & watch the 3rd movie from the mail. Then go back to
the store & swap it out. Now, watch the first movie you
took out from the store. Then proceed to watch the other
movies. Since the stores give you a week to return them,
take advantage of this! By the time you have watched all
3 movies you got from the store, 3 more will have arrived
in the mail! Repeat this process until your trial period ends.
Then you can cancel the service if you wish.
By using the above method, we have been able to “rent”
(for FREE) 25 movies in a 2 week period!!!
Timing has a lot to do with it, plus depending on where you
live & the service center from where your movies are
coming from.
The funniest thing about the entire process is that after a
month or 2, Blockbuster will send you a “please come
back & try our service again” email - which is good for
ANOTHER 2 week trial! So guess what!
25 more FREE movies!
And they continue to send you emails once every 2 months
or so, hoping you’ll stay on as a paying subscriber.
We’ve had 4 free “trial periods” so far! It was nice
watching 100 movies & not paying for any of them!
Bonus... like you need more!?!
You can do the same thing with Netflix!
Of course, they don’t have a store, so you’ll “only” be
able to get 9-15 movies (depending on how fast you
can watch & return them + delivery speed of your
mailing location).
If you sign up for Netflix right after your Blockbuster
subscription ends, it’s like being able to watch new
movies every day for over a month at NO COST!
Confession: We haven’t paid for a movie rental in
about 6 months! (And we’ve seen 200+!!!)
You do need to make sure that there really ARE
a huge quantity of movies that you WANT to watch!
